Copper and Brass Animal Brooch Workshop
Inspired by natural history and the call of the wild ,participants will be learn how to design their own animal brooch. The tutor will provide a selection of stencils for participants to choose the animal shape of their liking. This course is designed for beginners to learn metalsmithing techniques like stamping, hammering, and polishing. Participants will learn to apply these techniques onto different metal textures: copper, brass and silver. The class will take place on workbenches.
Finished product: One animal brooch made out of brass, copper and sterling silver.
About The Instructor :
Ronald Chan is a Toronto/Hong Kong-based designer and artist, graduated with his undergraduate degree in Material Art and Design (Jewellery) from Ontario College of Art and Design University in 2015. Having delved into both the accuracy from digital design and traditional fabrication, he combines these two techniques to produce highly detailed and narrative jewellery for his own brand. His brand Devil Claw Jewellery is completed with dynamic, narrative and individual meanings through the symbolic elements and storytelling in his jewellery.
