GIA Introduction to Tourmalines
Tourmalines are categorized as a semi-precious gemstone and the stone comes in a variety of hues. Watermelon tourmalines are the most recognisable variation with their cheerful red and green color combinations. Sri Lanka is the celebrated birthspot of tourmalines, and throughout history many beautiful stones have been found there. But there is more than just watermelon hued tourmalines, and participants will learn first-hand about the many other types that make up this fascinating gemstone.
The Gemological Institute of America, or GIA, is a nonprofit institute dedicated to research and education in the field of gemology and the jewelry arts. GIA's instructors share their professional expertise and indepth knowledge on gemstones and minerals.
