Details

From the minutiae
Into infinite manifestations

The Kaleidoscope world is surreal and dynamic. Similar to design, possibilities are boundless. Through different angles of imagination and changes in mindsets, paired with designers craftsmanship, it creates all kinds of individualistic art work. This exhibition showcases four residency designers and debuts their newest jewellery creation and story, a glimpse into their journey of growth and success.

Phase 7 Designer: Daisy Chan

Brand Name: Thinking Daisy Jewellery

https://www.thinkingdaisy.com/

//About the brand

Thinking Daisy Jewellery is a fashion jewelry brand founded by designer - Daisy Chan. It was started in 2018 with ingenious craftsmanship and unique fashion expression. “Think out of the box” is the brand concept that breaks through the box and adds innovative ideas and elements to the product.

In this era of fast-food culture, Daisy believes that jewelry should not only serve as a finishing touch, but also be a kind of eternal circulation. Through concise design with strict process control, hope to bring this beauty to more peoples.

Thinking Daisy Jewellery focuses on sterling silver jewelry. Each series contains the pursuit of beauty. Jewelry is no longer just a temporary fashion, but a vehicle to convey emotions and resonance. At the same time, the design shows us a life attitude - - breaking through the inherent frame to live a different self.

//What you’ve learned at Loupe

Coming to Loupe is like returning to school, where you can learn more in-depth metalworking skills and witness your own progress. At the same time, here can gather different designers to learn and communicate with each other and become a stronger design group. It is my honor to participate in the LOUPE residency programme.

//About your collection at Loup
The MUSE series is inspired by my muse - the famous female architect Zaha Hadid. Her architectural works are full of futuristic and streamlined shapes. Being in her building feels refreshing and divorced from reality, just like another spatial world. MUSE uses the overlapping curves of buildings to form design elements, which are composed of color shade, lines and triangles. Coupled with the Frosted Gold craftsmanship learned during Loupe, the jewelry works are more brilliant and iconic.

The Moment of Rupture

This collection is about ‘Rupture’ and ‘Repair’ - Many tensions within relationships can usefully be looked at through the prism of a concept much used within psychotherapy: the idea of ‘rupture’ and ‘repair.’ My jewellery takes its inspiration from the shadow and its constant movement. The shatter mirror has also inspired the shapes of the jewellery:  the Broken Beauty.

Glass matching with different weight and transparency help create these illusion of motion and glare from the sunlight and also give the impression of wave after wave that cross each other. There might be constant rather grave ruptures and no break up. Or there might be one or two tense moments over a minor disagreement – and things head towards collapse. Some glass are developed as two different levels, the one of colours and the one of outlines, to combine with different material ; other glass are instead seen and developed as water running down a surface and seem to be distorted projection of a main image.

My collection are artfully mended using mirror with silver and displayed as jewellery works of art, as a way to emphasise the emotion and basic human importance of the art of repair.
